The Associate of Arts in Christian Counseling degree is designed to merge biblical doctrine and counseling for the purpose of developing lay Christian counselors. Each student will be equipped with the knowledge for practical application of God’s Word. This program will provide lessons in how to build a strong foundation in prayer, faith, Christian character and assist students in spiritual formation. Each student will develop a knowledge of who they are in Christ and increase their ability to assist others in their own identity in Christ. At the end of this program students will have an understanding of lay biblical counseling and a strong foundation to begin the important work of helping others with the complexities of life.

A bachelor's degree in Christian counseling will develop and equip the student with the tools necessary to assist individuals, families, and communities with the challenges of life. In this program students will gain knowledge in various areas of the Bible such as spiritual warfare and the blood covenant of Jesus Christ. Students will additionally build important skills to effectively approach the cares of those in need of lay Christian counseling. This Christian counseling degree grounds students in the theories of psychology and lay counseling within a biblical framework. At the conclusion of this program, students will be able to provide lay counseling in areas such as marriage, family, individuals, anger, suicide, conflict management and resolution.

This Program provides graduate-level instruction in lay Christian counseling from a biblical framework. Students will build on their knowledge in crisis counseling, normal and abnormal psychology of individuals, family, and marriage counseling. Students will develop an understanding of ethical issues and quality lay counseling to help individuals, families and communities in the guidance to restoration and wholeness. This degree is designed to equip ministry professionals for leadership in ministry and counseling from a biblical foundation. The student will learn the difference between societies approach to crisis, assisting in conflict resolution and assist in the healing and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. At the completion of this degree program students will have an understanding of setting realistic goals and setting boundaries. The student will additionally develop quality research methods and writing skills.

This degree will provide advanced scholarship in theological, historical, and contemporary aspects of Christian counseling. Students will be trained to think and practice wisely in caring for people amid the complexities of human life. Students will also build on their skills of biblical interpretation and enhance their appreciation for the church’s role in the care of people. Students at this level will be proficient in biblical insight, research theory, leadership, advocacy, tools and measures in counseling. Additionally, students will be proficient in education, individual, family and community transformation. At this level students have mastered quality research methods and writing skills. The student will be provoked to critically think through societies and specifically church body dilemmas. Students are encouraged to research previous methodology and perhaps create new methods that can be implemented for the transformation and improvement of life for God’s people.
